RV America traces its roots back to 1979 when an insurance agency in Woodland Hills, California began to write RV insurance through Foremost Insurance Company. Parkwood Insurance, then an agency that specialized in commercial insurance, also pursued appointments with additional RV insurance companies including Progressive Insurance.

Several years later Parkwood Insurance began developing a department that would specialize in RV insurance through dealerships and other sources. Parkwood began to build relationships with dealers in Southern California. In 1992 Parkwood Insurance was purchased by its current management and restructured again in an effort to become a leader in the RV insurance industry. In 1995 the name of the agency was changed to RV America Insurance Mktg., and the new corporation was soon licensed in 48 states.

In January of 1997 a dynamic partnership was formed when Paul Bender – the current owner - partnered with Steve Freedman. Steve - a veteran from the retail industry - has been primarily responsible for building RV America's dealership affiliations. Now, just a few years since the partnership was formed, RV America is the nation's leading provider of insurance through RV dealerships and the internet.
